The Nigeria Association of Patent and Proprietary Medicine Dealers (NAPPMED) has resolved to settle dispute with the regulatory agencies to resume their trade.
The medicine dealers who had challenged the continual confiscation of their products subsequent upon the vacation order from Sabon Gari and Mallam Kato premises, are seeking alternative resolution to ending the lingering crisis.
Justice A. Liman has directed all parties including the National Drug Food and Administration Agency Control (NAFDAC), Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria (PCN), Nigerian Army (NA), Nigeria Police Force and others to maintain status quo pending on the hearing of enforcement of fundamental human rights brought by the Medicine dealers.
The Medicine dealers who, although agreed to obey the relocation order, challenged NAFDAC, PCN, and Police from mounting surveillance on their properties at Sabon Gari and Mallam Kato.
At the resumed hearing on the matter on Tuesday, counsel to NAPPMED, Abdulazeez Adams told journalists that the plaintiff has approached the court to resolve the matter amicably.

According to him, “the parties have met with the court to end the dispute amicably and there was no objection from the respondents counsels. The court in his wisdom has asked the parties to meet and agree on the contentious issues.
” One of the issues to resolve and agree upon is the alternative location approved by the state government for NAPPMED relocation as against the CWC at Dangwaro village. The alternative premise provided by government is located at Dala Gyada shopping complex along Katsina road.
” The other matter is unseal and release of dealers goods at Sabon Gari and Mallam Kato premises. Immediately after the Judgment of Justice Simon Amoneda, security operatives by the order of NAFDAC and PCN has took over the old premises preventing the dealers from evacuating their products.
” The third concern is for parties to agree to settle the entire issues through alternative resolution, away from the court. This will enable parties to reach a logical conclusion on the matters”.
The court has fixed 2nd May, 2024 for the parties to report the decision of parties on issues and subsequent ruling on finally agreement on the matter.
