President Bola Tinubu is currently presiding over the National Caucus meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja. This marks the first such gathering since he assumed office on May 29, 2023.
The high-level meeting, which began at 7:20 PM with the President’s arrival, has brought together key party leaders to deliberate on critical party matters and governance strategies. The caucus meeting comes ahead of the APC National Executive Council (NEC) meeting scheduled for tomorrow at the party’s secretariat in Wuse 2, Abuja.
Among those in attendance are Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje. Ganduje is accompanied by nine other members of the National Working Committee (NWC), including the deputy national chairmen (North and South), national secretary, legal adviser, treasurer, organizing secretary, women leader, youth leader, and leader of persons living with disabilities.

Several APC governors are also present, including Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, who chairs the Progressive Governors’ Forum. Others in attendance include Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, Sokoto State Governor Ahmad Aliyu, and Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia.
Key issues on the agenda include the scheduling of a non-elective convention in line with the party’s constitution, discussions on the formation of party standing committees, and a presentation on the establishment of The Progressive Institute (TPI). The caucus is also expected to deliberate on the implementation of a membership e-registration exercise and review a report from the national legal adviser on ongoing litigations involving the party.
South-South party leaders, led by former Bayelsa State Governor Timipre Sylva, are also in attendance. From the northern region, notable APC figures such as Senator Abdulaziz Yari, former Nasarawa State Governor Tanko Al-Makura, and Senator Aliyu Wammako are present.
Representing the South-West are APC founding National Chairman Chief Bisi Akande, Chief Iyiola Omisore, Chief Olusegun Osoba, and Senator Lola Ashiru. Other prominent figures at the meeting include former Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara, former Cross River State Governor Ben Ayade, and former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim.
Discussions at the meeting are expected to shape key decisions ahead of tomorrow’s NEC meeting, reinforcing the party’s strategic direction under President Tinubu’s leadership.
