The Honorable Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle (MON), has called for national unity and a renewed commitment to economic growth and peacebuilding across Nigeria. The Minister’s goodwill message was delivered on his behalf by Hon. Ibrahim Dosara, former Zamfara State Commissioner for Information, at the award ceremony celebrating the 100 Most Influential People in Lagos.
With the theme “Renewed Hope: Advancing Policies for Economic Stability and Inclusive Growth in Nigeria,” the ceremony honored individuals who have significantly contributed to peace, socioeconomic progress, and nation-building across the country.
Representing the Minister, Hon. Dosara commended the awardees, describing them as change-makers whose courage and innovation continue to strengthen the nation. He emphasized that building a better Nigeria requires collective effort and commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policies aimed at sustainable development and national security.

In a dramatic turn, the goodwill message also addressed the ongoing political tension in Zamfara State, taking direct aim at the current Governor, Dauda Lawal. Hon. Dosara accused the governor of engaging in media blackmail and politically motivated attacks against the Minister of State for Defence and the Nigerian military.
“Governor Dauda Lawal has failed to address the escalating security crisis in Zamfara and is now resorting to baseless allegations and media trials to cover his administrative incompetence,” Dosara stated. He highlighted Matawalle’s past efforts to tackle banditry through community protection initiatives, peace dialogues, and military collaboration, asserting that his tenure brought stability to the state.
He criticized Governor Lawal’s alleged refusal to cooperate with federal security operations and described his leadership style as one driven by “deceit, rancor, and time-wasting politics.”
Hon. Dosara also responded to accusations leveled against Matawalle by the governor, including allegations of corruption and collusion with bandits, stating that no investigative body has substantiated such claims.
Dosara then urged Governor Lawal to focus on his constitutional responsibilities and cease distracting the federal government’s ongoing security efforts.
“The people of Zamfara deserve peace, not political drama. The Renewed Hope agenda is not just a slogan, it is a vision for real change,” he reiterated.
The event ended with applause for the honorees and a strong message of unity, resilience, and a call to place national interest above politics.
