In what insiders describe as a calculated political restructuring within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Mustapha Bala Dawaki is being positioned as a leading candidate for the role of Chief of Staff to the party’s National Chairman.
Sources close to the APC’s national leadership revealed to an online newspaper, The Historica Nigeria that Dawaki, an influential former federal lawmaker from Kano State is under serious consideration for the high-level post. The move is seen as part of broader efforts to tighten party discipline and enhance coordination at the top levels of the APC as it prepares for key political battles ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Dawaki, who served three consecutive terms in the House of Representatives representing Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency (2011–2023), is widely respected for his administrative competence, legislative experience, and strong grassroots following. His deep knowledge of public finance and national planning, coupled with his enduring loyalty to the party, has made him a bridge-builder between the APC National Working Committee and stakeholders across Nigeria.
“He is calm, loyal, strategic, and understands the inner workings of both government and the party. That makes him a natural fit for the job, especially as the APC navigates delicate political terrain in key states like Kano,” a source familiar with the development stated.
The anticipated appointment comes amid renewed internal consultations at the APC national secretariat, where leaders are mapping out a clear path for the party’s future, following recent electoral outcomes and ongoing internal reforms.
While no official statement has been issued, top party sources suggest that Dawaki’s nomination has received strong backing, and an official announcement could follow shortly, barring any last-minute shifts.
Known for his quiet strength and policy-oriented mindset, Dawaki previously chaired the House Committee on Appropriation, playing a central role in several national budgetary reforms.
