Fear and tension have taken over Zango Biyu community in Rimin Gado Local Government Area of Kano State after two children were brutally killed in separate incidents over the weekend.
One of the victims, five-year-old Muhammad Gambo, was discovered dead on Sunday morning around 10:00 a.m. Reports revealed that the little boy had been sent by his mother to buy powder worth ₦50 at a nearby shop.
When the shopkeeper refused to sell to him due to insufficient money, Muhammad attempted to visit his grandparents. Sadly, he was attacked along the way and never made it.
A community member, Laminu Ahmad, narrated the chilling scene.
“His mother sent him to buy powder with ₦50, but the shopkeeper said the money was not enough and sent him back. Instead of going home, he went towards his grandparents’ house. On the way, some wicked people stopped him and slaughtered him like a ram,” he said.
Ahmad further lamented that residents suspect the killing was for ritual purposes.
“We suspect they are ritualists because the boy’s blood was collected — there was no blood on the ground. They must have used a bowl to gather it, and they wiped the knife clean before running away.”
While residents were still mourning Muhammad, another tragedy struck. The body of a young girl – 13-yesr-old Fatima Sule, was discovered in her family’s home at Dandinshe quarters, Dalal Local Government Area of Kano state.

Her mother, speaking through tears, recounted the heartbreaking moment in an interview with newsmen.
“I left my children at home and told them to go to their elder sister’s house after they finished what they were doing. Before I came back, I was called and told that Fatima had been killed.”
The twin killings, which occurred between Saturday and Sunday, are the first of their kind in the community and have thrown residents into deep fear.
According to the residents, The Kano State Police Command has directed that the victims be buried after preliminary investigations and has launched a manhunt for the killers.
