The AA Zaura Foundation International has submitted a strategic framework and action plan to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as part of efforts to tackle the menace of Daba in Kano and across Nigeria.
Foundation President, Abdulkarim Abdulsalam Zaura, disclosed this on Sunday at Bayero University Kano (BUK) during a strategic engagement with academics hosted by the Centre for Economic, Social and Population Research (CESPOR).
According to him, the framework emerged from months of consultations with Daba groups, security agencies, Islamic scholars, educators, and the business community.
“Today, we are most honoured to be here with the academic community whose scholarship provides the intellectual scaffolding for lasting solutions,” he told participants.
Zaura emphasized that the academic sector must lead with empirical research, policy advocacy, and thought leadership in reshaping responses to youth violence.
The forum featured papers on “Ending Daba and Advancing Human Dignity through Education in Kano State” and “Community-Led Solutions to Combating Daba in Kano State: Functional Education and Vocational Skills.”
The communiqué stressed that tackling Daba required investment in education, vocational training, spiritual growth, and economic empowerment, alongside sustained engagement with at-risk youths.
Zaura pledged that his foundation would work with universities, communities, and policymakers to sustain momentum, adding: “This is about building a generation of youth empowered with dignity, skills, and hope, not violence.”
