Former Governor of Kano State, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has publicly acknowledged Khalifa Muhammad Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano and Chairman of the Kano State Council of Chiefs.
According to reports, Ganduje made the remark on Tuesday while speaking at the Kano State Government House during the swearing-in ceremony of the new Deputy Governor, Murtala Sule Garo.
During his address, Ganduje greeted Emir Sanusi and referred to him by his full traditional title, drawing loud applause from dignitaries and attendees.
The moment marked the first time Ganduje has openly recognized Sanusi in that capacity since their fallout.
In 2020, Ganduje, then serving as governor, deposed Sanusi as Emir of Kano, a move that sparked widespread reactions across the country.
