Barely 12 hours to Kano rerun election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised alarm over alleged connivance between the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to manipulate the poll.

The constituency rerun election will hold in six local government areas under three constituencies to fill the vacancy seats in the state House of assembly.

APC Kano State Chairman, Prince Abdullahi Abbas made the allegation on Friday in a letter address to the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state.

Prince Abdullahi alleged that information available indicated a perfected plan orchestrated to declare the outcome of the election in favor of NNPP.

According to APC, ” The attention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been drawn to information that there is likelihood of connivance between officials of INEC and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), to compromise and fabricate results in favour of NNPP and against candidates of the APC.

“However, INEC is an independent body and should always be seen to be impartial and fair. We therefore urge your good office to investigate this matter and ensure there is free and fair election,” the letter read.

Although, APC recently extended an olive branch to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and members of the NNPP to join its fold, both parties are leaving no stone unturned to claim the assembly seats.

The police has directed movement restriction across the six local government areas where elections will hold to forestall law and order.
