Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted the Village Head of Bauda in Maro Community, Kufana Chiefdom, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, 28th June 2025, around 1:00 a.m., when armed bandits stormed Bauda village and kidnapped the traditional leader, Mr. Obadiah Iguda.
According to a report submitted to the Agom Kufana by the Overseer of Kufana District, Mr. Stephen Maikori, the attackers targeted only the village head and left without harming or abducting any other resident or looting properties.
“This senseless act of violence has further deepened the atmosphere of insecurity and fear among the residents of Bauda and its surrounding communities,” Maikori said in the letter addressed to His Royal Highness.
The incident has disrupted the traditional leadership structure in Bauda and raised serious concerns over the worsening security situation in the area.
The Kufana District authority has called for urgent and sustained security intervention to safeguard lives and property and prevent further attacks.
When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Mansir Hassan, said he would confirm the details of the incident before commenting.
However, he had yet to call back as of the time of filing this report.
