Bashir Gwammaja Mourns the Passing of Galadiman Kano, Abbas Sanusi

Alhaji Bashir Ibrahim Al-Mustapha Gwammaja, OON, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the most senior councillor and oldest member of the Kano Emirate Council, Galadiman Kano, Alhaji Abbas Sanusi Bayero, who died at the age of 92.

Sending his condolences from Saudi Arabia, Bashir Gwammaja described the late Galadiman Kano as a revered elder statesman who played a pivotal role in the development of Kano and its traditional institution.

“The passing of Abbas Sunusi is a great loss, not only to his family but to the entire Kano Emirate and the people of the state. He was a man of wisdom and integrity, whose guidance and leadership were invaluable,” he stated.

Throughout his lifetime, Galadiman Kano was known for his unwavering commitment to the traditional institution and his significant contributions to Kano’s socio-political landscape.

Born in 1933 in Bichi, Kano State, he initially held the title of Wamban Kano before being turbaned as Galadiman Kano by Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi in 2014.

Bashir Gwammaja extended his heartfelt condolences to Abdullahi Abbas, Chairman of the Kano APC, and the entire family of the late Galadiman Kano.

“I extend my deepest condolences to Abdullahi Abbas and the entire family. May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus,” he prayed.

He further sought Allah’s mercy upon the deceased and prayed for the family to find strength in this difficult moment.
