A tragic incident occurred in the Makwarari area of Kano State, where heavy rains led to the collapse of a residential building which led to the death of a 35-year-old mother, Balaraba Tijjani and injury of her two children on Friday.
It was reported that the children are Abdulnasir and Abdallah, aged 11 and 13.
According to the husband, Tijjani Magaji, the heavy rains that began on Thursday night and continued into Friday morning caused the building to collapse.
Confirming the incident, the Spokesperson for Kano Fire Service, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, disclosed in a statement said the building is a dwelling house of a one-storey building of 30ft. by 40 ft.
“We received an emergency call on Friday, around 9:30a.m, from our control room by one of our staff members, Ibrahim Isah, that a building collapsed.
“Upon receiving the information, we quickly dispatched firemen to the scene,” he added.
Abdullahi stated that the victims were rescued alive and taken to Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, for treatment.
