Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the National Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, has directed Muslims to observe the crescent of Shawwal 1445AH starting from Monday.
This instruction was conveyed in a statement on Sunday by Prof. Sambo Janaidu, Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council Sokoto.
The statement also requested Muslims to report the sighting of the new moon of Shawwal 1445AH to their nearest District or Village Head for onward communication to the Sultan.

The new month of Shawwal marks the end of Ramadan and signal celebration of Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
The Sultan prayed for Allah’s continued assistance to Muslims in fulfilling their religious duties.
Recall that the Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia on Saturday also directed citizens and residents to be on the look out of the sighting of the month of Shawwal from Monday.
