Former chairman of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA), now known as the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), and founder of Kano Pillars Football Club, Ibrahim Galadima, is dead.
Galadima passed away on Saturday at the age of 78 following a long illness.
His death was confirmed in a statement issued by the Kano Pillars Media and Communication Directorate.
Born on February 15, 1948, the club described him as a highly regarded football administrator and a key figure in the development of sports in Nigeria.
The statement said, “He served as NFA Chairman between 2002 and 2006, during which he made notable contributions to the growth and international representation of Nigerian football.
“He also distinguished himself as Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission, where he played a vital role in promoting sports development at both grassroots and elite levels.
“A founding father of Kano Pillars FC, Galadima laid the foundation for the club’s rise as a dominant force in Nigerian football. His leadership and passion for the game remain part of the club’s rich legacy,” the statement noted.
Further details indicate that his funeral prayer will take place on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. at Masallacin Waje in Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State.
Kano Pillars FC, through its General Manager, Ahmed Musa, and Chairman, Alhaji Ali Muhammad Umar, expressed condolences to his family, the Kano State government and residents, as well as the Nigerian football community.
The club also prayed for Almighty Allah to grant him Aljannatul Firdaus and give his family the strength to bear the loss.
