The Fulbe Global Development and Rights Initiatives (FGDRI) has commiserated with the government and people of Borno state over the devastating flooding which ravaged Maiduguri, the state capital.
This was conveyed in a statement obtained by ‘Good Evening Nigeria’, signed by the president of the association Salim Musa Umar.
According to the statement, the association’s leadership identify with all residents who have been suddenly caught in this untold nightmare losing hardly quantifiable resources and lives.
The statement reads “FGDRI, the umbrella Fulbe Global Organization, deeply commiserates with the government and people of Borno State over the flood disaster, which has ravaged the capital Maiduguri.

“We are deeply pained by the volume and velocity of the disaster, which has caused untold damage to lives and property, displacing hundreds of thousands of families, businesses, and homes.
“The scale of destruction, damage, and death, which can not be easily quantified, has continued to destabilize businesses, schools, and social life with reckless abandon.
“The leadership and entire membership of FGDRI identify with all residents who have been suddenly caught in this untold nightmare losing hardly quantifiable
resources and lives.
“Our consolation especially goes to HE Governor BabaGana Zulum and HRH the Shehu of Borno Alhaji Abubakar Umar Garbai on this very tough and rough chapter in the life of Maiduguri residents.
“We urge Nigerians to come out en masse and demonstrate our traditional spirit of
brotherly solidarity and fellowship with the residents of Maiduguri and the entire people of Borno by supporting victims to restore their lives to normalcy.
“FGDRI welcomes the declaration of necessary and immediate intervention by the government of President Tinubu to ameliorate the hardships in which the disaster victims have found themselves We recognize the Federal Government’s immediate feedback as an ample testimony of timely support to victims by proactive leadership during such a moment of emergency.
“We also urge the federal government to take the necessary steps by working
closely with the Borno State Government to mitigate and forestall such emergencies in the future.
