The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in conjunction with National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) have organised a programme on disaster management, search and rescue in Kano.
The FRSC Sector Commander, Kano State, Ibrahim Abdullahi said during the event on Wednesday in Kano that the essence of the programme was to share experience on better and faster rescue methods for disaster and accident victims.
He said the concerned of the two agencies was to ensure that victims are rescued given first aid before moving them to hospitals for further medical attention.

Abdullahi who was represented by his Deputy, Abdulmumini Yakasai, said the partnership with NEMA would improve and strengthen preparedness towards disaster management.
According to him, this partnership will foster a culture of resilience and professionalism that is in line with the FRSC corporate strategic goals to safeguard lives and properties of road users.

He said that sharing ideas between the two organisations would result a safer and more secure environment for road users.
The Coordinator of NEMA, Kano Territorial office, Mr Nura Abdullahi, stressed on the importance of preparedness on the part of officials to handle any emergence situations to protect more lives.
He observed that the country was recording series of disaster such as; building collapse, road or air crashes among others, saying that there was the need for sharing of ideas on better ways to handle emergencies.
