A major investigation has alleged that German billionaire Karl-Erivan Haub, who disappeared mysteriously six years ago, is alive and well, residing in Moscow with his mistress.
Haub, a renowned German-American retail magnate, vanished without a trace in April 2018 while training for a ski mountaineering race near Switzerland’s Matterhorn peak, an investigation spearheaded by German broadcaster RTL has revealed.
Despite extensive search efforts involving helicopters and alpine rescuers, his body was never recovered, leading authorities to declare him dead three years later.
However, the recent investigation claims to have uncovered evidence suggesting that Haub, the former managing director of Tengelmann Group, is living under an assumed identity in Moscow alongside a much younger woman named Veronika Ermilova.

Christian Haub, Karl-Erivan’s younger brother and successor at Tengelmann Group, now finds himself under scrutiny by the Cologne prosecutor’s office for allegedly making false statements under oath regarding his brother’s disappearance.
The probe revealed intriguing details about Haub’s alleged relationship with Ermilova, including numerous phone calls exchanged in the days leading up to his disappearance, some lasting over an hour.
Ermilova, described as a woman in her forties with ties to Russia’s FSB security service, is believed to have organised outdoor excursions while also holding a position at a travel experience company.
Investigators noted several instances where Haub and Ermilova coincidentally crossed paths in various cities, fueling speculation about the nature of their relationship and possible motives behind Haub’s disappearance.
Haub’s purported connections to Russian business figures, including banker Andrey Suzdaltsev and self-proclaimed fraudster Sergey Grishin, add another layer to the case.
Grishin, known as the ‘Scarface Oligarch’, had notable dealings with Haub and was linked to the sale of a lavish property to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
RTL journalist Liv von Boetticher suggested that Haub’s disappearance might be linked to his involvement with Russian business interests, raising questions about potential motives and allegiances.
While the exact circumstances of Haub’s alleged escape remain unclear, the investigation has sparked intense speculation about his true whereabouts and the events surrounding his disappearance.
