Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on Sunday inaugurated a 7.3km road network in Dawakin-Kudu local government area of the state, abandoned by the immediate past administration of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
The capital project worth over N4 billion was commissioned along solar-powered streetlight project that brought life back to the community.
A statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said the commissioning came amid jubilation and glamorous celebration by the community who could not hide their joy.
According to the statement, the project was initiated by Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s administration in 2012 and was handed over to the immediate past governor Abdullahi Ganduje, but the latter refused to complete the project throughout his eight-year tenure.
Speaking at the commissioning, Governor Yusuf expressed satisfaction over the successful completion of the project which he said would further improve social economic development in the local government.
” I am here today to witness the gracious fulfilment of our campaign promises; I am more than delighted to commission this project, which has a direct bearing on the improvement of the socio-economic status of the good people of Dawakin Kudu”, the Governor said.
The over four billion worth of project was revalidated last year with an agreement that the contractor H&M Nigeria Limited will hand over within the first quarter of 2025.
During the commissioning ceremony, the Chairman of Dawakin Kudu Local Government, Hon. Sani Ahmad Mairago, commended the governor for the timely completion of the project.
