Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers stormed Garo town in Kabo Local Government Area of Kano State in the early hours of Sunday, abducting a young lady, Zainab after collecting ₦8 million from her family.
A credible source told SolaceBase that the gunmen, numbering 10, stormed the residence of a well-known businessman, Alhaji Auwal at Garo Sabuwar Unguwa around 1:20 a.m.
The source said three of them were armed with guns, while the remaining seven carried other weapons.
According to the source, the attackers forcefully gained access to the house by breaking a small door.
‘’They gathered the entire family in one place, creating an atmosphere of fear and panic,’’ a source said.
The source said “The head of the family pleaded with them to spare his family, offering to meet their demands in exchange for their safety. The gunmen demanded money, and were handed over ₦8 million.”
However, despite receiving the money, the assailants abducted the family’s eldest daughter, a secondary school graduate, before fleeing the scene.
The whereabouts of the abducted lady is unknown as the kidnappers are yet to establish communication with the family
The incident has left the community in shock and fear, as residents call on authorities to address the growing insecurity in the community.
SolaceBase contacted Kano Police Command Spokesman, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa who confirmed the story, noting that the command has commenced investigation to arrest the criminals.
