Hijrah: Kano Declares Monday Public Holiday

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has declared Monday, July 8, 2024 as public holiday to commemorate new Islamic calendar 1446 AH.

The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs under the spiritual leadership, His Eminence, Sultan of Sokoto, Alh. Sa’ad Abubakar has declared Sunday 7th July, 2024 as first day of Muharam, the first day of the first month of Lunar month.

In recognition of the Islamic calendar, the state government enjoined the people of the state to utilize the holiday to reflect on the previous year and commit themselves in mutually beneficial activities that will bring succur to the people in this difficult and trying times.

A statement by Baba Halilu Dantiye, the state Commissioner for Information, the government pledged to continue initiating policies and programmes that will empower people to be self dependent.

The statement urged Muslim Ummah to intensifies prayers for continued peace and progress in the State, expressed optimism with prayers and support of the people.

The NNPP administration said no stone will be left unturned to turn around the fortunes of the state and return it back to the most economically prosperous state among it’s pears in the nation.
