Former Commissioner for Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Muhammed Diggol finally tendered his resignation letter to quite the cabinet of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Diggol, who until the recent cabinet reshuffle was commissioner in charge of Transportation Ministry said to have tendered his resignation note last Thursday, but could not received decisive response from the Governor.
Peoplespen24 gathered that Diggol did not give reasons for his decision to drop his political appointment, an impeccable source revealed that the pioneer Managing Director of KAROTA succumbed to presure to leave the government after intense pressure.
Recalled that Diggol was suspended from the ruling New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano along side the former Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi for alleged insubordination and disrespectful disposition to the leader of Kwankwasiyya movement, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

The suspension came on the heel of activities of a splinter group referred to as “Abba Tsaya Da Kafarka”, calling for non-interference of external force in Governor Yusuf’s administration.
Although, the SSG denied knowledge of the activities of those propelling the movement, the party insisted the former Tetfund boss and Diggol were behind the rebellion movement targeting the national leader of NNPP.
While the dust is yet to settle on the internal crisis, the SSG was relieved of his plum seat along side the form Chief of Staff and Five Commissioners during the recent cabinet reshuffle. SSG was said to have been dropped on health ground, Diggol who was seen as next target was reasigned to Monitoring and Evaluation, a Ministry considered as less attractive.
Dissatisfied with the redeployment, a reliable source told Peoplespen24 that the government was compelled to dislodge Diggol from office to serve as deterrent for disloyalty to the spiritual leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement.
When contacted for inquiry over his sudden resignation note, Diggol was not available to speak with Peoplespen24. But a close associate who would rather remain anonymous because he was not authorized to speak revealed that Diggol had to resign to prevent needless faction between a godfather and his godson.
” When someone directed another person to take action difficult to take yet the person is under obligation to do so, I think the best thing for the Diggol is to create an atmosphere deviod of war. That is all what I can say here and I hope you will not pest me further”. The source hinted.
Meanwhile, Governor Yusuf, on Sunday accepted the resignation of Diggol while expressed gratitude for his selfless service, unwavering commitment, dedication, and exemplary work ethic during his tenure as a member of the State Executive Council.
A statement issued by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Mr. Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Sunday said Diggol was initially appointed as Commissioner for Transportation at the inception of Governor Yusuf’s administration in 2023.
