The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, has warned intending pilgrims of the 2024 Hajj against falling prey to the hands of scammers requesting extra charges.
In a statement by Hajiya Fatima Sanda Usara, Assistant Director Public Affairs at the Commission, alerted that anybody who seeks extra fare apart from the official cost should be treated as a Scammer.
Fatima said, “The Commission has not requested pilgrims to pay any additional administrative charges beyond the stated amount and anyone that makes such a request on our behalf is violating the role and responsibility of NAHCON as a regulatory body.

“Collection of any extra charges is not authorized. Any pilgrim asked to pay extra charges should forward the name of the person making the request and the location, along with evidence of the request or payment to the Security and the Commission.
“Such kind of Documents, should be forwarded to this number on WhatsApp: 09071800007, and these guidelines should be adhere to official announcements from NAHCON, which are published on our website. Stay alert and protect yourselves,”She added.
Prior to the closure of registration, NAHCON announced an additional cost of N1.9 million for registered pilgrims who had earlier completed their N4.7 million initial deposit and N8.4 million for new intending pilgrims.
The increased Hajj fare according to NAHCON becomes pertinent following the rising exchange rate of dollar to naira.
