A passenger train travelling from Kaduna to Abuja derailed on Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred along the busy Kaduna–Abuja corridor, around 11.00am.
People’s Pen24 gathered that some cabins were overturned, resulting in passengers scrambling to safety.
Although details remain sketchy, it was not immediately confirmed whether any casualties were recorded.
The cause of the derailment is yet to be ascertained.
However, authorities have in the past linked frequent disruptions on the route to vandalism and activities of scavengers.
As of press time, officials of the Nigerian Railway Corporation and security agencies had yet to issue any statement on Tuesday’s incident.
