Commander General, Kano Hisbah Board, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa has resigned from his appointment.
The head of the Kano Shari’a police tendered his resignation in a few minutes video clip posted on his official Facebook page on Friday.

Daurawa’s resignation came less than 24 hours after Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf faulted the new method of operations being deployed by Hisbah against acts of immorality in the state.

While addressing Ulama at the Government House yesterday, Gov. Yusuf, especially kicked against the mode of invading public places in the name of arresting prostitutes, an act he considered uncivilized.
Governor Yusuf also frowns at Hisbah’s ‘harassment’ of social media influencers, insisting the board must review its present operations to correct the wrong in the society.

Reacting to Governor Yusuf’s comment, the Daurawa explained that Hisbah board under his stewardship has embarked on series of activities to correct the immorality being perpetrated in the society especially those social media influencers.
According to Sheikh Daurawa, Hisbah has done what he believes was right and in accordance with the tenets of Islam. He however noted that he would resign his appointment and wishes the Governor and his administration well.
Hisbah under Sheikh Daurawa has recorded significant achievement in the fight against immorality and smuggling of prohibited alcoholic beverages into Kano in recent times. It would be recalled that Hishah impounded several trucks of beers being trafficked from southern part of the country into Kano despite the existing laws prohibiting the sales in the city.
The Sharia Police has also launched a special operation targeted at flushing out immoral act especially in Sabon Gari area of the state.
