Kano State Commissioner for Science and Technology, Yusuf Kofar Mata, has announced his resignation from office.

In a statement shared on his Facebook page, Kofar Mata said the Kano State government had deviated from the struggles, structure, and ideals that originally brought it to power.

He described his decision to step down as necessary in light of this development.

The outgoing commissioner extended special thanks to the leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, and members of the public for their support during his tenure.

Kofar Mata praised their encouragement and described his time in office as a period of service to the people of Kano, expressing hope for the state’s continued progress.

Recalls that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on January 23rd, 2026 resigned from the NNPP.

People’s Pen24 reports that Kofar Mata was initially commissioner for Higher Education before a cabinet reshuffle in January 2025, when he was redeployed to the Science and Technology ministry.
