Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has officially confirmed Dr. Kabiru Ahmad Gwarzo as the substantive Provost of Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, Kumbotso. Dr. Gwarzo, who had been serving in an acting capacity since September 2024, has now been appointed to permanently lead the institution.
The confirmation was conveyed in a letter dated March 14, 2025, and signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Higher Education, Comrade Abdussalam Gwarzo. The letter highlighted Dr. Gwarzo’s achievements during his tenure as Acting Provost, including successfully hosting accreditation panels from the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), underscoring the institution’s commitment to academic excellence. Dr. Gwarzo’s contributions to education and peacebuilding in Kano State have also been widely recognized. In January 2025, the Salga Media Peace and Development Center honored him with a prestigious award for his dedication to fostering a culture of peace and advancing educational initiatives in the region.

Governor Yusuf’s decision to confirm Dr. Gwarzo reflects his administration’s commitment to stability and excellence in Kano’s higher education sector. The governor has previously demonstrated his support for the college by approving infrastructure improvements, including the installation of street lights on campus to enhance security.
Dr. Gwarzo’s confirmation is expected to further strengthen the institution’s mission of producing competent educators and contributing positively to Kano State’s educational landscape.
The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the college’s Director of Public Relations, Amina Abdul-Azeez Abba, and made available to newsmen on Sunday.
