A 24-year-old man has been arrested by operatives of the Kano State Hisbah Board after a video clip emerged showing him ‘licking’ a goat’s genital organs, apparently to attract social media fame.
Daily News 24 reports that the weirdo, identified as Shamsu Yakubu, a resident of Dawakin Kudu local government area of the state was nabbed on Tuesday.
In the video clip, which has gone viral on social networks, especially Tiktok, Mr Yakubu is seen instructing someone to record him in the obscene act of licking the hapless animal’s genitalia.
He explained that he engaged in the distasteful behaviour because he wanted to trend on social media and become famous.
But residents, who were outraged by Mr Yakubu’s bizarre conduct threatened to beat him up, before a community leader reported him to the Hisbah Board, which promptly arrested him.
However, in an interview with the Hisbah officials in Kano city, Mr Yakubu denied licking the animal, claiming that he only placed his mouth around the goat’s genitals.
“I swear to Allah I did not lick the goat’s genitals. I only put my mouth around the area,” he said.
“I have never done this kind of thing before. I am in my right senses. This is my first time and I won’t repeat it again, he added, responding to an order by the Hisbah Board to have him undergo psychiatric evaluation.
The young man also denied using drugs or any other substances.
Speaking to Daily News 24 on the issue, the Deputy Commander-General of the Hisbah Board, Sheikh Aminuddeen Abubakar said Mr Yakubu would undergo psychiatric and drug evaluation before any punishment could be meted to him.
“It is sad that a Muslim man will use his mouth to lick the genitalia of a goat, without regards to religious teachings and moral values,” he said.
According to Sheikh Aminuddeen, the suspect does not know anything about Islam or its teachings despite being a Muslim.
“He’s only concerned about seeking dirty fame on social media. This is why we have ordered psychiatric and drugs evaluation on him to know his true state of mind,” he added.
The Hisbah chief also said the goat involved will be tested for any disease it might have contracted from Mr Yakubu.
“Yes we will take the goat to a veterinary clinic and test it for any disease it might have contracted from the suspect. And then we will test the suspect too before we prosecute him,” he explained.
Sheikh Aminuddeen also warned other wannabe Tiktokers who engage in eccentric behaviour with the aim of seeking social media fame.
“Anybody caught bathing in dirt or ash or charcoal under the guise of seeking popularity will be arrested and severely dealt with,” he warned.
This is coming just days after another Kano man, named Kabiru 2-Pac, trended on social media after bathing with gutter dirt and recording the act online.
Mr 2-Pac’s Tiktok account has since generated more than 500,000 followers in a matter of days, prompting torrents of copycats who are struggling to follow suit in a variety of bizarre behaviour of their own.
