KEDCO Gives Reason For Power Outage In Kano, Katsina, Jigawa

Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has attributed the recent unstable power supply in its franchise areas, including Kano, Jigawa, and Katsina States, to the vandalization of key transmission lines along the 33kV Shiroro-Kaduna transmission lines.

People’s Pen24 reports that the lines serve as the primary source of electricity supply to the affected regions.

Engr. Kasim Bukulo, Technical Director of KEDCO, revealed this while briefing journalists in Kano, on Tuesday.

He explained that the vandalism, which resulted in severe damage to two transmission towers, has caused significant disturbances to the national grid.

According to him, the disruption has led to widespread power outages and unstable supply in many parts of KEDCO’s service areas.

“Some enemies of the country have targeted critical facilities, causing a massive disruption in our ability to supply power. The damage to the Shiroro-Kaduna transmission lines, which are vital to our operations, has resulted in a total blackout in major areas of Kano, Jigawa, and Katsina,” Engr. Bukulo said.

He assured the public that KEDCO’s teams are working tirelessly to repair the damaged infrastructure and restore electricity to affected communities.

“We are doing our best to fix the vandalized facilities so that people can continue to get their light,” he added.

KEDCO apologized for the inconvenience caused by the blackout and appealed to residents for patience as efforts to restore normalcy are underway.

He urged communities to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities around power installations to prevent future incidents of vandalism.
