LG Poll: Calm, Empty Streets As Residents Elect Council Representatives In Kano

Calm and peaceful atmosphere perverse in Kano as residents elect council representatives across the 44 local government areas of the state.

Kano state Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) has deployed over 12,000 adhoc staff and sensitive materials for the conduct of the council election.

Thought election is yet to commence as at 10am in some polling units visited around Tarauni, Municipal, and Dala in the metropolitan centres, the environment is calm.

Major roads are also deserted while streets empty in strict compliance to movement restriction directive issued by the state government.

Similarly, heavily armed vigilante group, men of Hisbah commission and hunters have taken over security of polling units and KANSIEC headquarters. This follows the withdrawal of police and other security agencies.
