Naira Depreciates Further Against US Dollar

The Naira on Friday continued its downward trend at the official market, closing at N1,393.25 against the U.S. dollar.

Data published on the official website of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) showed that the local currency lost N5.80 at the close of trading.

The figure indicates a 0.4 per cent depreciation compared with Thursday’s exchange rate when the Naira traded at N1,387.44 to the dollar.

The local currency has now recorded a steady decline throughout the week, following a similar drop recorded in the previous week.

On Monday, March 2, 2026, the Naira exchanged at N1,378.02 per dollar.

On Tuesday, the currency weakened to N1,384.29, while Wednesday’s trading saw it close at N1,387.09.
