In a significant crackdown, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) uncovered large quantities of illicit drugs at locations across Lagos.
The operation, carried out over the weekend, targeted an Igbo-Igunuko shrine at Alfa Beach in Ajah and an underground storage facility in Lekki.

The NDLEA reported that 2,760kg of cannabis, suspected to be the Ghanaian strain known as “Loud,” was seized from the shrine in Ajah. Two suspects, Gbenga Abiodun and Sunday Abiodun, were arrested in connection with the find.
NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi also revealed that agents discovered a secret underground storage unit in the bedroom of one Muhammad Warnos Abdullahi on Marwa Coastal Road, Lekki Phase 1. Inside, they found 11,786 pills of controlled substances, including tramadol, molly, rohypnol, diazepam, and 64 bottles of codeine syrup.
The underground compartment, cleverly hidden under a padlocked iron slate and concealed with a rug and mattress, was designed to evade detection.
