The Borno State Police Command has re-arrested one of the convicts, Kyari Kur aka Henry, age 28, who escaped from a correctional facility in the state during the recent flooding that submerged Maiduguri, the state capital, and its envrirons.
A statement on Friday by the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, said that the convict escaped due to the devastating flood in September 2024, which collapsed the fence of the correctional facility.
The statement read, “Kyari Kur was serving a jail term for criminal conspiracy and theft at the Medium Security Custodian Centre in Maiduguri. Unfortunately, he escaped due to the devastating flood incident in September 2024, which collapsed the fence.
