Umar Idris Shuaibu, Kano
In a significant political shift, several prominent figures from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and the Action Democratic Party (ADP) have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defection was formalized during a meeting held at the residence of APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, in Abuja. Also present at the meeting was the Kano State APC Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas.
Among the notable defectors are Senator Kawu Sumaila; Hon. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, who represents Rano, Kibiya, and Bunkure Federal Constituency; Hon. Abdullahi Sani Rogo, representing Karaye and Rogo Federal Constituency; and Hon. Zubairu Hamza Massu, a member of the Kano State House of Assembly representing Sumaila Local Government.

Also joining the APC are former Kano State Commissioners Hon. Diggol, Hon. Abbas Sani, and Hon. Baffa Bichi, who previously served as Secretary to the State Government.
A former gubernatorial candidate under the ADP in Kano, Hon. Sha’aban Ibrahim Sharada, has also declared his allegiance to the APC.
The development is expected to significantly impact the political landscape in Kano and beyond as the APC consolidates its influence ahead of future elections.
