The Director of Training and Programmes at the Progressive Institute, Sanusi Sa’id Kiru, has urged Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State to refrain from making public remarks on the alleged N6.5 billion diversion involving the Protocol Directorate of Government House.
Kiru, a former Commissioner of Education in Kano, made the call in a statement issued to journalists on Sunday. He stressed that since the case is already before a court of competent jurisdiction, the government should allow the legal process to run its course without interference.
He argued that rather than dismissing the allegations as false, the governor should encourage patience and trust in the judiciary, which, according to him, would better reflect the administration’s professed commitment to transparency and anti-corruption.

“By allowing the courts to determine the matter, the Governor would uphold the rule of law and show respect for the institutions that govern our society,” Kiru stated.
The Progressive Institute director described the government’s recent reaction as a “desperate attempt to save face,” warning that such responses risk raising more questions than answers about those linked to the controversy.
“How can you dismiss it by saying it is a lie, despite the available evidence?” he queried, urging the administration to let the judicial process speak for itself.
Kiru further pointed out that, as a past beneficiary of judicial interventions in political disputes, it was inappropriate for Governor Yusuf to publicly dismiss a matter already being deliberated upon in court.
