Operatives of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have apprehended a 25-year-old suspect, Musa Usman, for attacking one of its men during a raid.
The suspect said to have stabbed one of its officers around Rahama Round, Bebeji Local Government Area of the state. Usman was apprehended alongside his accomplice, Buhari Ya’u Bashir, 24.
NDLEA spokesperson, Kano command Muhammad Maigatari, disclosed large quantities of illicit substances were also recovered from the suspects.
Magatari in a statement confirmed that the incident ensured while the suspects were attempting to resist arrest. The agency insisted it would not relent in purging Kano of the use and trade of illicit substances.
According to Maigatari, the command condemned the attack on the officer, emphasizing that such acts would not deter the agency’s commitment to combating drug-related crimes.
Some of the substances, Maigatari said include 1.1 kilograms (wraps) of cannabis sativa, 8 grams (38 tablets) of diazepam, and 59 grams (165 tablets) of Exol.
He said, “Attacks on law enforcement officers in the line of duty will not deter us from carrying out our mandate to rid society of the scourge of drug abuse and trafficking.”
He also stated that the suspect are currently being held in custody and will facing prosecution by the NDLEA for drug-related offences and assault on an officer.
