The Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has emphasized the need to designate a special day as Alumni Day in Kano State.
The Commissioner made this remark when members of the Dawakin Tofa Science Secondary School Old Boys Association, Class of 1991, paid him a courtesy visit.
Comrade Waiya, who is also a member of the association, stated that establishing such a day would strengthen the bond among former students and provide an opportunity to assess the well-being of their fellow alumni to offer necessary support.
He expressed gratitude to his former classmates for the visit and their show of camaraderie, highlighting the significant role alumni associations play in the development of the schools they attended.
In his remarks, the President of the Dawakin Tofa Science Secondary School Old Boys Association Class ’91 Comrade Inuwa Ishaq Inuwa, stated that their visit was to congratulate Comrade Waiya on his appointment as Commissioner.
Comrade Ishaq mentioned that their association comprises professionals from various fields, including security personnel, professors, and senior government officials.
He also appreciated Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for appointing their member as Commissioner in the vital Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs.
He prayed for Allah’s guidance and success for the Commissioner in his leadership role.
Executive members of the association who accompanied the President to the visit include its Secretary Alh. Hasan Umar Kazaure, Alh. Abas Sa’idu Kiru, Alh. Sani Garba Kachako and two members of the board of trustees of the association, Alh. Adamu Ibrahim Dabo Dawakin Tofa and Alh. Auwalu S. Mu’azu.
To round off the visit, a special award was presented to the commissioner by the President as a symbol of recognition on behalf of class ’91 of the alma mater.
