Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has directed immediate revocation of contract award on 5 kilometers road project at Garko Local Government.
Governor Yusuf gave the directive on Sunday when he visited the project site realizing the failure of the contractor to mobilize to site.
The Governor had issued stern warning to the contractors handling the legacy project across the 44 local government areas when he paid similar assessment visit to Ghari to return to work or risk losing the job.
Yusuf worried that despite series of meetings and modalities reached on reviving of financial burden on the project, some of the contractors failed to comply with government directive.
He subsequently assured residents of the area that a new and reliable contractor would be reassigned to execute the project within few days to timely complete the abandoned work.
Governor Yusuf used the visit to conduct similar on-site assessment of the Kafinchiri Irrigation Project in Garko Local, a critical infrastructural initiative under the state’s agricultural transformation drive.
The project, valued at N2.5 billion, is aimed at stimulating a year-round farming, enhancing food security, and driving economic growth in the state.
A statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, emphasized the significance of the Kafinchiri Irrigation Project, as a vital component of the Governor Yusuf administration’s efforts to promote sustainable production in the State.
The Governor urged the residents of Garko and surrounding areas to take full advantage of the opportunities provided by the project to improve their socio-economic conditions and contribute to the state’s overall development.
According to the statement, Yusuf pledged commitment to establishing a modern health facility in Garko town, to bring healthcare services closer to the people.
