Amid widespread speculation of internal strife within the All Progressives Congress (APC) and claims of looming defections by members of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) bloc, key party insiders have dismissed such reports as overblown and politically motivated.

Sources close to the APC leadership describe the alleged crisis as a deliberate narrative being pushed by opposition elements, particularly in Kano State, aimed at discrediting the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and destabilizing the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Opposition Elements Behind Alleged Crisis

Credible information from party insiders indicates that the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), with strong roots in Kano, may be orchestrating a coordinated campaign to undermine Dr. Ganduje’s leadership. However, party loyalists insist this is not the first such attempt, and like those before it, the latest effort is bound to fail.

Ganduje’s Strategic Leadership Positions APC for 2027 Victory

“The APC under Dr. Ganduje is more focused than ever,” one party source noted. “The National Working Committee recently extended his tenure in recognition of his achievements in stabilizing and reorganizing the party.”

Al-Makura’s Role Misinterpreted

Recent reports, including one published by Vanguard, claimed that former Nasarawa State Governor, Senator Tanko Al-Makura, was being considered for the position of APC National Chairman, in a bid to pacify the CPC bloc and prevent further defections. However, party officials have clarified that such discussions are part of broader consultation efforts, not a sign of division or a move to oust Ganduje.

“Bringing Al-Makura into the picture should not be viewed as an indictment of Ganduje’s leadership,” another source explained. “It reflects the party’s inclusive approach to maintaining unity across all blocs.”

Under Ganduje, APC Finds Renewed Direction

Since taking over as National Chairman, Dr. Ganduje has brought renewed vigour and strategic discipline to the APC. With a track record spanning public service, academia, and state governance, he has emerged as a stabilizing figure within the party, widely respected by both supporters and critics.

Under his stewardship, the APC has seen a significant reduction in internal disputes and is now laying the groundwork for a formidable 2027 electoral strategy. Ganduje has also been praised for initiating reconciliation efforts and creating space for young political actors within the party.

Tinubu’s Confidence Remains Unshaken

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is reported to remain firmly supportive of Dr. Ganduje. Senior party members say the president values Ganduje’s leadership style and views him as a key ally in maintaining the APC’s dominance at the national level.

While some politicians are reportedly exploring alternative platforms motivated by personal ambition rather than ideological disagreements the party’s core leadership remains united and committed to delivering on its mandate.

APC Insiders Urge Vigilance Against Misinformation

Political analysts and members of the public are being urged to treat narratives of internal crisis within the APC with skepticism. According to insiders, such stories are often the product of calculated misinformation campaigns by individuals or groups seeking relevance or revenge.

“The APC is not weakening it is evolving,” a party strategist noted. “We are strengthening internal democracy, resolving legacy issues, and building an inclusive structure to secure electoral victory in 2027.”

As the next general election approaches, many APC stakeholders believe Dr. Ganduje should be allowed to continue leading the party, guiding it through the electoral cycle and supporting President Tinubu’s vision for Nigeria.

Efforts to undermine Ganduje’s reputation, they say, are nothing more than political distractions that will ultimately fail to derail the party’s momentum.
