Prominent members of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), a legacy party that merged to form the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have reaffirmed their commitment to the party and expressed unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the CPC bloc dismissed recent reports suggesting disaffection or possible defection among its loyalists, describing such claims as “false, mischievous, and misleading.” The group maintained that it remains a vital part of the APC and fully aligned with its leadership and progressive vision.
“We have neither left the APC nor do we intend to leave,” the statement read. “The CPC bloc remains one of the legacy foundations of the APC, and we are resolute in our commitment to the party and its ideals.”

According to ‘The Historica Nigeria‘, the statement was endorsed by 23 notable figures, including former governors, ministers, senators, and senior party stakeholders. The signatories expressed pride in the sacrifices made to establish the APC and vowed to resist any attempts to destabilize the party or undermine its founding principles.
“Though challenging, these policies are necessary steps to rebuild our economy and secure a better future for all Nigerians. We urge patience and collective support as the benefits unfold,” the statement said.

The group also called on APC leadership to enhance internal communication and engagement across all levels of the party, stressing that open dialogue is essential to reducing tensions and fostering unity.
While acknowledging that some members may feel sidelined, the bloc encouraged aggrieved individuals to use the party’s internal conflict-resolution mechanisms instead of resorting to public criticism or threats of defection.
“It is imperative for all APC members especially those who played key roles in its formation to work together to preserve its legacy and consolidate Nigeria’s democracy,” the group emphasized.
The statement was signed by high-profile figures including Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, Mallam Adamu Adamu, Senator Ibrahim Musa, Hon. Farouk Adamu Aliyu, Arc. Waziri Bulama, among others.
The signatories concluded with a strong reaffirmation of their loyalty: “God bless President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Long live the APC! Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!”
