About 21 members of the Kano State contingent returning from the National Sports Festival in Ogun State lost their lives in a fatal accident in Kura Local Government Area.
SolaceBase gathered that the vehicle, carrying about 35 passengers, mainly athletes and officials, fell off a bridge at Dakstalle town, 50 kilometres to Kano, on Saturday around 9 am, resulting in a devastating crash.
One of the contingent, Ado Salisu, told SolaceBase that the incident occurred as the team approached their destination in Kano, after travelling overnight since Thursday night from Ogun State, after the completion of the National Sports Festival.
”The Kano contingents travelled with about 8 vehicles, and the bus that was involved in the accident was the last bus,” Salisu told SolaceBase.
While 21 fatalities have been reported, several others sustained injuries and were rushed to the Kura General Hospital for emergency treatment.
SolaceBase gathered that efforts are underway to transfer the other injured contingents to Murtala Specialist Hospital in the metropolis.
