The Kano State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointments of former Speaker, Balarabe Sa’idu Gani, and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s spokesperson, Sunusi Ahmad Bature Dawakin Tofa, as commissioners.
The confirmation followed the successful screening of the two nominees during Tuesday’s plenary session, presided over by the Speaker, Jibril Isma’il Falgore.
People’s Pen24 reports that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had forwarded their names to the Assembly for consideration to fill vacancies in the Ministries of Information and Mineral Resources.
Speaking to journalists after his screening, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa said he would prioritise the revitalisation of government-owned media organisations if appointed as Commissioner for Information.
He specifically identified the need to revive the operations of Kano Radio, expand the number of ARTV stations, and provide adequate staff and modern equipment to enable the state-owned Triumph Publishing Company to resume daily newspaper publication.
