About five armed men on Friday, blocked the highway stopping two private vehicles, forcefully taking all occupants to an unknown location.
The Kwara State Government has assured residents that efforts are in top gear to secure the release of seven individuals recently kidnapped in the Ekiti Local Government Area of the state.
The victims, comprising both men and women, were abducted near Osi and Obbo-Ajegunle while traveling from Abuja to Offa, and have been held in captivity for more than fifteen days.
Muhydeen Aliyu, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security, told Radio Nigeria in Ilorin that the government was working tirelessly with security agencies to ensure the safe return of the abducted travellers.
Mr. Aliyu’s comments followed a public appeal by family members of the abductees, who voiced concern over the prolonged captivity of their loved ones. The families noted with dismay that while two individuals kidnapped after the initial incident have since been released, their own relatives remain in captivity.
The victims’ families described their ordeal as emotionally devastating, citing days of anguish, sleepless nights, and heightened anxiety as they await positive news.
They appealed to the state government and relevant security authorities to redouble efforts to secure the release of their loved ones.
Meanwhile, the state government has reiterated its commitment to the safety and security of all residents and assured the public that no effort will be spared in rescuing the kidnapped persons.
