The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Kano State Command, has intercepted six males and three females, suspected to be victims of human trafficking.
Comptroller of the Command, IM Abubakar who disclosed this while briefing Newsmen in Kano on Sunday, said the victims were intercepted with their object of smugglers accomplice.
CIS Abubakar said at about 14:00hrs on 25th July 2024 our vigilant officers intercepted the group syndicate of four suspected female smugglers in Gwangwan, Rimin Kebe and Brigade in Kano.
“The victims as suspected smugglers accomplice in recruiting, transporting, exploiting and smuggling of eight (8) objects into Libya and one (1) to Saudi Arabia through Niger Republic.

“These objects include six (6) males and three (3) females”.
CIS Abubakar stated that based on the Command investigation, the lives of the object are in danger and likely to be force into prostitution.
He said the Nigerian Immigration Service remains committed in enforcing the law and safe guarding the interest and security of Nigeria.
“This interception serves as testament to our dedication to upholding the provision of the Immigration Act, 2015.
“So, it is base on this provisions that our Officers acted swiftly and professionally ensuring that these individuals were prevented from embarking on their unlawful journey”. Abubakar.
The Comptroller of the Kano Command added that the accomplices who facilitated the illegal venture will be held accountable for their actions.
“This individual will be prosecuted in accordance with the law”, says Abubakar.
CIS Kano Command reiterates their commitment under the administration of Comptroller General of the service Kemi Nanna Nandap to improve their services as it is in the Immigration Act of 2015.
Abubakar maintained that illegal migration, human trafficking and other related crimes will be prevented, as the officers of the service are working tirelessly to secure boarder zone and protect Nigeria from any threats that may arise from such illegal activities.
He then advice people to be vigilant and report those who come to lure their relatives to embark on a wild goose chase in search of a greener pasture.
