The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has sought to join the case against the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the application to stop Federal Allocation to local government councils in Kano.
The council workers vowed to protect the welfare and sources of livelihood of over 60 members working at various sections across the 44 council secretariats by resisting APC’s move to block the release of FAAC to Kano councils.
APC and two others have dragged the Kano State government, the Accountant General of the Federation, and 53 others before the Federal High Court, Kano, seeking the court to declare the local government elections null and void.
The plaintiffs in the originating summon suit No: FHC/KN/CS/425/2024, asked the court to declare the 44 newly elected council Chairmen and councillors not entitled to receive any statutory allocation.

It further sought relief for an injunction restraining the Central Bank of Bank (CBN), the Accountant General of Federation (AGF), the Minister of Finance and three others from releasing the monthly allocation to Kano.
When the matter came up for hearing on Tuesday, Counsel to NULGE, Barr. Sadiku Samani moved an application to join the matter in the interest of innocent workers in 44 local government areas of the state.
Meanwhile, Justice Simon Amobeda ruled for adjournment of the matter upon a communication conveyed by a senior advocate, who was not at the court due to a pressing urgent condition.
The senior lawyer and counsel to Kano State Independent Electoral Commission KANSIEC, one of the 55 defendants, had pleaded for an extension of the matter till February subject to court convenience.
Subsequent to no objections from other parties, Justice Amobeda adjourned the matter to 4th March 2025 for a hearing on the application and other pending motions on the originating summon.
It would be recalled that Kano State Government, one of the plaintiffs accused Justice Simon Amobeda of the Federal high court of bias in the local government election matter brought before him.
At the previous hearing, Kano State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Isa Haruna Dederi asked Justice Amobeda to recuse himself from the case due to his perception of being against the state government.
The AG alleged that Justice Amobeda reflected some forces of grudges against the state government and added that since one of its agencies petitioned the National Judicial Commission (NJC) over an alleged abuse of privileges and indiscriminate granting of ex-parte applications.
