Our attention has been drawn to recent online commentaries questioning the leadership and contributions of Muhammad Yusha’u Gwaram PhD, the Provost of the Federal College of Agricultural Produce Technology (FCAPT), Kano, as his tenure approaches its expiration. We, the progressive workers of the college, find it necessary to respond and put the records straight.
It is unfair and misleading for anyone to downplay or ignore the visible achievements recorded under Gwaram’s stewardship. Leadership, in our view, should not be measured merely by the passage of years but by the tangible impacts, reforms, and value created, particularly in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which emphasizes food security, wealth creation, and youth engagement. By this standard, Yusha’u Gwaram has proven himself as one of the most outstanding Provosts in the history of FCAPT.

Across Nigeria’s Federal Agricultural Colleges and Research Institutions, precedents exist where tenure extensions were granted to leaders whose performances justified continuity. Granting Gwaram an extension, if considered by the Federal Government, would therefore not be out of place but consistent with this practice and justified by his reform-driven leadership.
Gwaram’s achievements are well documented in newspapers, online platforms, and the testimonies of staff, students, and stakeholders. His leadership has strengthened the core mandate of the college while expanding its impact across the entire North-West zone and beyond. Particularly noteworthy is his commitment to empowering youths through practical skills and starter kits, which have enabled graduates to venture into agribusiness and other enterprises.
