The Nigeria Police Force, Zone I Headquarters, held a dignified pull-out parade in honour of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Ahmed Ammani, who officially bowed out of service after a distinguished career spanning over three decades. The event, held in Kano, was attended by senior police officers, dignitaries, government officials, and well-wishers, all gathered to pay tribute to a man widely described as a symbol of dedication, discipline, and professionalism.
In his remarks, the Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Command, CP AT Abdullahi, praised the retiring AIG as a role model whose record of service remains exemplary. “AIG Ammani is a quintessential officer who served with integrity and commitment. His contributions to the Nigeria Police Force and the safety of our communities are remarkable,” CP Abdullahi said.
The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Bakori, described AIG Ammani as both a mentor and a brother. “Coming from the same state, Katsina, I had the privilege of being guided by him throughout my career. His advice and encouragement shaped many of my decisions. He is someone I hold in the highest regard, and his impact will remain with me,” CP Bakori noted.

Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Finance and Administration, Zone I Kano, DCP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, reflected on his time working with the retired AIG Ahmed Ammani, describing him as a distinguished officer with a track record of excellence. Kankarofi noted that he drew inspiration from AIG Ammani’s leadership and ideas, particularly upon returning to the Zone to serve under his command. He credited the retired AIG for significantly influencing his professional development.
Adding his voice to the accolades, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Uba Bala Ringim commended AIG Ammani for maintaining a sterling record from the start to the end of his career. “He started well and ended well just like I did. Let this be a reminder to those still in service that your ending will reflect your conduct and dedication while in uniform. Serve with purpose, uphold the charter of your career, and relate with people with respect,” he urged.
Delivering his emotional valedictory message, AIG Ahmed Ammani reflected on his journey in the Nigeria Police Force, which began in 1992. “It is by Allah’s infinite mercy that I rose through the ranks to become an Assistant Inspector General. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve and protect the people of this great country,” he said.
He extended heartfelt appreciation to his family for their unwavering support, describing their resilience as instrumental to his success. “To my career mates, colleagues, and the governments of Kano, Jigawa, and Katsina States, I say thank you for walking this journey with me. I also deeply appreciate the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, for his leadership and for honouring me with this grand send-off.”
The event was further graced by the presence of Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, who was represented by the Director General of Special Services Unit, Air Vice Marshal Ibrahim Umaru. In his address, he described AIG Ammani as a patriotic officer whose career reflects dedication to national service.
“Today, we are not just celebrating a successful retirement, we are honouring a life of service. AIG Ammani’s career is a shining example of how one man’s dedication can positively shape lives and institutions. He served this country with honour, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations,” AVM Mukhtar stated.
As AIG Ammani takes a final bow from active service, the outpouring of tributes affirms his legacy as a steadfast public servant. His story, marked by integrity, loyalty, and excellence, sets a benchmark for officers in service and those yet to come.
